Today’s cartoon drew its inspiration from this page of Shakespearean lightbulb jokes. Of course, there’s a time and a place for these things.

In light of last week’s cartoon, I’m left wondering whether Gratiano in Othello is the same man as Gratiano in The Merchant of Venice. Merchant Gratiano is definitely crass enough to tell this joke, although I’m not sure I can see Nerissa going for this guy…
